| Marie' Osmond’s own mother had suffered from postpartum depression after the
birth of her last child. With the help of her family, Marie was able to overcome
her depression. Not content with her own recovery, Marie went public about her
own experience to help other women suffering from depression. After talking
briefly about the events on her own talk show, Marie went on Oprah to reach a
wider audience, hoping that women viewers would seek help for their own

illness. He is one of the first Hollywood and Hispanic celebrities to talk
publicly about his experience with bipolar disorder and has encouraged consumers
and family members ti never to give up hope for a recovery. The award is
in memory of Lionel Aldridge, former defensive end of the Green Bay Packers(1967
Super Bowl team), who struggled for man years with schizophrenia and
homelessness. |
